And on this album, it occurred to me that there are all these songwriters out there that people work with. All they do is write a song. I wasn’t really interested in somebody writing a song for us, but I just know that there is all these different people with all these different ideas and honestly, different approaches. So on this album, for the first time, we opened the door and let other people come in the studio. We thought if it doesn’t work, we’ll just go back to the way we’re doing it, but it turned out that we worked with a couple people that we really liked. Justin Tranter and Julia Michael, are most known for their pop stuff with Justin Bieber or Britney Spears, but they’re actually versatile artists. They can really write a catchy corny pop song, but they can also write a deep and meaningful, you know, something of another genre. And when we sat with them, it was me and Chester and Brad, from our band, and then Julia and Justin. And I remember we came in and everyone was like “Oh, how’s your day going,” or whatever, and he goes, “Oh, fine,” and there was kind of a beat. And were just like, “OK,” and we just started talking. And a few minutes later he was like, “You know what? No, I’m not fine. Let me tell you what’s going on in my life.” And he just unloaded on us.
